I came across this Old Trapper Hot & Spicy Beef Jerky during Costco Samplings and I figured I’ll give it a try. As I ate the first sample, there was no thinking twice, I right away purchased one because I just loved it. It kind of confuses your mind think that it’s going to be “Hot & Sweet,” but it is just too spicy.

Costco Family Size Old Trapper Beef Jerky

This are family size which is 18 ounces, and the price is $17.59 which I think is just wonderful. At VONS the price is $8.99 for a 4-ounce size. Therefore, there is no brainer that the Costco price is just unbeatable. However, one thing that kind of annoys me is that this are not individually wrapped. It would be better if they came individually wrapped in 1-ounce size, so you know just how much calories you are consuming. Otherwise, it is just a pick and guess game with exactly how many ounces you are eating.

Is It Spicy?

Absolutely, the more you eat the hotter it becomes. At first taste I kind of hinted some sweetness, but as I continued to eat the spice just overwhelmed the taste and I started to get sweaty. The more you eat, the hotter it becomes. As much as spicy it is, it also tastes good too. The taste of the spice has a nice smooth taste to it that is just way too addicting. Once you start eating, you just can’t stop and you eat and eat as you start to sweat from the heat. Great tasting beef jerky and absolutely recommend giving it a try. Super great just not conveniently packaged as they are not individually wrapped.

One Problem

As much as good tasting they are, they do have one problem. That is that the ingredients don’t say what flavorings are used. For example, you can see some seeds from a pepper, but it doesn’t tell you the peppers used in the ingredients. I think if the ingredients were more specific, this would be amazing. Other than that, I will get this again as they are super good in taste and come in a fire heat.
