Not only is this a chess set it is also a checkers game making it a 2 in 1 board game. The price of this Lego Iconic Chess Set was $64.99 which comes with 1450 pieces, and it as marked for ages 9 and up. I really think this should be for ages 12 and up because it is falling apart as you play. Looks amazing as a display and just a chess perfection but not really easy to play with. Let’s began with the unboxing of it, also check it out on LEGO.

Unboxing Lego Chess Set

Unboxing is pretty easy and absolutely nicely packaged and ready to just begin building it up. The instructions booklet comes with it and very well drawn to follow along and to build this Iconic Chess Set.

Lego Chess Set Review

Now time for the real deal about this chess set. For one, it is pretty impossible to play with because it has these dots on each color box that the chess pieces sit on. It is pretty a challenge trying to match the chess pieces to these dots as it takes some time and struggle trying to sit the pieces on them. For two, the chess board is so small that it becomes a challenge trying to think while playing. You mind gets compressed with the size of the board and this starts to get very annoying.

If only the size is bigger and the dots are not there on the color boxes, this chess set would be perfect.

The Board

The board opens in half pretty easily and they stack up on top of one another. It comes with these 4 tiny green pieces that you put on the corner of one half to stack the other half on top. However, I found those 4 pieces to be useless as they stack up and connect each other regardless of those 4 green pieces. There are storage spaces inside the board so you can store all of the pieces.

Checkers

Luckly, as you can guess it comes with checkers as well which is pretty simple to make. I love the checkers pieces as the colors are red and blue and go just perfect with the board set. However, just like the chess pieces it is pretty hard to play with it because of the dots on the board.

Overall

I really like this chess set and everything about it is pretty nice. I only struggled on step 10 and 11 in the instructions guide on one half of the board when making it. Also, I struggled on the same thing on the other half of the board while making it. Other than that, everything else was easy to put together and pretty fun too. It took me under 8 hours to make it complete.

Absolutely, great and iconic chess set as the name says it but a challenge playing with it. Even when I’m eating and drinking Tarragon Soda as it helps me to think, even with that is pretty hard to play with.
