As my review goes about this gym Glendale Fighting Club is pretty mixed up. I mean they have couple fighters training in the gym but I’ve heard of only 2 that made it. Well, one made it, and the other kind of made it, and many more I guess are on the rise. First of all everyone knows Ronda Rousey she was extremely powerful at the UFC. However, we saw how that ended. Well, fortunately she became an actress, and also went to the WWE as a wrestler. The other fighter from this gym that made it to the main fights, but lost, you may know him as “The Nightmare” Vanes Martirosyan. Both Ronda and Vanes have been to the Olympics.

Ronda Rousey and Edmond Tarverdyan

Before Ronda training to be a UFC fighter she was already good. Well, put it this way she was a Bronze Medalist at the 2008 Olympics for Judo. She was one great fighter or wrestler as you may call it, so training for MMA was the right path to go. She won many UFC fights and was one successful fighter at one point. But that’s how fighting is you win and lose its give and take, and the best wins. She was training at GFC (Glendale Fighting Club) during the UFC, some say she was in luck for winning, but it doesn’t matter. To me she was a great fighter and GFC got her to the tops.

Vanes Martirosyan

Vanes Martirosyan

This fighter Vanes Martirosyan was trained by Freddie Roach as most know him for training Manny Pacquiao. Freddie Roach gave Vanes a professional contract and they starting training together. Vanes had been in 2004 Olympics but he lost the 2nd fight and was eliminated. Anyway he began with Freddie, he was at the right track, then somewhere down the road for some reason he left Freddie. After he left Freddie, he eventually ended up at GFC and was being trained by Edmond Tarverdyan. Edmond is the head trainer from the gym and also the owner of the gym. They ended up getting a fight with “GGG” Gennady Gennadyevich Golovkin who is the best at the weight class and the champion. Anyway, they lost the fight, not sure where Vanes Career is headed to now, as he had no fights from there on.

Top 2 best Fighters Were already pro level before Training at GFC

GFC helped Vanes and Ronda to the fights and it seems like a well fighting gym. However, as reviewing this gym some things I don’t really like. Well first of all, it seems like a great gym to make it to the top like Ronda & Vanes. But really to think about it, those 2 fighters that made it, were already good to begin with. They didn’t train from zero and make it to the top from Edmond at GFC. They were trained elsewhere, they were at a good fighting position, then randomly they ended up at GFC.

Great to be a Pro

So, 2 successful fighters from the gym, were not from the gym to begin with. That said, I cant successfully say this is a gym where you can start training and you will be a champion. But, what I can say is, since GFC has been in big fights, and if your good, you may just end up in one too. They have many fighters who are I guess on the rise, hopefully like Ronda and Vanes they can make it. All said, as far as professional fighting goes I could say this is a well gym for that as they have good background in some big fights.

However, if you plan on not turning to a pro then I think gyms like Gold’s Gym is more suitable. Why? Because they are cheaper and they have boxing bags as well. On top of that, you can train without bunch of kids running around everywhere. Plus they have weekly free working out classes too. They may not teach you to fight like a pro, but sure can get you sweating and getting the body you want. I think its well worth the try and you can try the gym for free too. On top of that, I think GFC is just overpriced, 2-3 months of GFC payment can cover 1 year of Gold’s Gym.

Great Gym For the Kids

Overall, I think the gyms is a good gym for professional fighting. Especially a good gym for the kids to try and learn to fight or even go to tournaments. It is on the pricey side, but the kids can learn to jab, throw a hook, and fight correctly. However, the gym is kind of small and if you plan on doing weights, I don’t think this is really the gym for that. GFC Fitness is located at 601 S Brand Blvd, Glendale, CA 91204.
