Every now and then I come across something that just super excites me at Costco. This time it is Pupusas, and it is just one of my favorite street foods of all time. I normally buy them from front of the LA Zoo at the weekends is when I usually see them there. They usually come with sauce and cabbage salad. I eat them as I feel mixing the cabbage or alone the pupusas just as I feel. Having to see my favorite street food at Costco feels just a bit extra special to me.

However, the Pupusas from Costco don’t come with sauce or cabbage salad. Instead, they come in a box with just the pupusas inside. It’s kind of weird eating the pupusas without sauce or cabbage salad because that’s just how I’m used to eating them. However, they are still good and absolutely way cheaper than the street prices.

Just to mention my choice is always beans and cheese and when it comes to Costco you just have to get what’s available.

Del Real Pupusas Birria & Cheese

This one here comes with a good price of just $13.99 for box of 10. Cooks very fast and with just a little bit of oil in under 8 minutes it’s ready to eat. However, it is just the pupusas and that is all with no sauce or salad. It’s a bit too meaty for me as the meat dominates in taste and I prefer beans and cheese. At the same time, I didn’t really get the street style of flavor that I normally get. Perhaps it’s missing the sauce and salad. Kind of tastes like you got chips and dipped it in meat and cheese. I would prefer more cheese with less meat and some beans in there would make it just perfect. You could really get the Birria side of taste dominate with this one and makes me crave something to dip it in.
