Shopping at Costco I came across this special Parthenon Organic Kalamata Olives and in a very good price of just $10.89. On top of that, it comes in a great size of 52.91 oz with liquid and when drained it’s 27.16 oz. Besides that, it comes in a glass jar which makes this very important for olives. When it comes to olives, it’s kind of like alcohol in its own world. Therefore, having it in plastic can just ruin its pickled flavors. That said, everything about these olives from Costco is just perfect in the form of maintenance, care and packaging.

Yes, they are pitted which at purchase I was not aware of. It’s written in small letters that they are pitted so I kind of missed that part. Realistically, I like the pits inside the olives as it delivers more flavor. It also feels more natural during eating. The good news is that these olives are naturally ripened so no guessing on how they are ripened.

Not Really Salty

When I purchase Kalamata Olives from many variety of stores, I notice they are pretty salty. However, this ones from Parthenon kind of feel like they have no salt. It’s as if I want to add more salt to it. On the label it says that it has 190mg Sodium which is good but almost doesn’t feel like it has any salt.

Taste

The olives are good but at the same time it doesn’t have a strong Kalamata taste to the olives. It’s like very minimal on the Kalamata side of flavor and kind of has a sour taste that seems like it’s coming from the vinegar. Sure, they are delicious but feels like they are lacking on the rich flavors of Kalamata. When eating, I can taste just how naturally healthy they are, and cost 3 times less compared to other stores. Everything is perfect just doesn’t have strong Kalamata Flavor going on. Goes great as side dish with sandwiches or other foods. I think they will be perfect to cook on top of pizza.
