This Paqui One Chip Challenge is very popular at 7-Eleven and this time I figured I’ll give it a try. What was I thinking? I thought this was going to be a joke, but it turns out to be a nightmare instead. Every year that I came by it at 7-Eleven I just never thought about getting it because I thought it would be a joke to me. Since, I’m very used to eating spice, I figured how spicy can it really be? In my mind, I always thought it was not going to be spicier than the foods I already eat. However, I was just so wrong. This is the real deal.
Once Chip Challenge
Every year there is a different design on the package and possibly different ingredients. I remember during 2022 it had turned your tongue into red and I believe it had ghost peppers in it as well.
2023
I tried the 2023 edition, and this is my very first time trying it.
The ingredients:
- Blue Corn
- Sunflower and/or Safflower oil
- Carolina Reaper Pepper
- Naga Viper Pepper
- Sea Salt
No ghost peppers this year but wow! What can I say except for my mouth was on fire. It felt like I was blowing fire from my mouth, and it took me only two bites to give up. Well done! Is what I like to tell me. However, I didn’t really give up. It was just my first time trying it, so I figured I will go easy on the first attempt.
The Rules say to not drink water or eat anything for the first hour, but it took me just 47 seconds until I drank and ate ice cream. (LOL)
The Burn
After the two bites, it took me 30 minutes of mouth pain along with throat pain. Then for 10 minutes the pain was there but I felt like it was slowing down. It took a complete 40 minutes of burning sensation until I felt good again with just two bites of the chip. Well, I’m happy I tried it and now I could put a check mark on my list of things to do. However, I will be back and this is not over. 🙂
