The McDonald’s McRib Sandwich is back again for a limited time for its 40th Anniversary. It was first introduced during 1981 and now 40 years later its still one of Americas favorite. I am happy to get to try this sandwich as I was waiting for a long time for it to be available again.
Classic Days
As I opened the box of the McRib the first thing that came to my mind was the classic days. The sandwich is not in a circle shape, its more like a long rectangular shape sandwich. The Texture of the buns and the way it looked just makes me feel the vibe of the 1980’s. The Sandwich contains:
- buns
- onions
- pickles
- McRib Meat
- McRib Sauce
I also got lettuce and tomatoes on the side, thinking if I mix match it may just come out good. Anyway, as I’m taking my first bite I’m getting a 50/50 feeling towards this Sandwich. Its kind of good and not really that good at the same time. Most importantly is that this sandwich only got me to crave real ribs that is well done. I was thinking I would want full stack of ribs and potato instead of this sandwich. That was the feeling I got towards this McRib Sandwich.
Not Well Done
The McRib Meat was not well done, it was soft and of course the bones were not there. It has grill lines on it, but as I’m eating I kind of feel like its not made on fire, but rather gave me a feeling it was baked. I’m very picky when it comes to ribs and this McRib was soft and lightly cooked.
As I tried to mix lettuce and tomatoes, I felt like it was starting to get gross. The pickles and onions is the correct balance of ingredients added for the McRib Taste. As I think anything else added would not balance the taste correctly. The McRib does deliver a rib taste in a sandwich, just not my style of ribs.
When it comes to ribs I like it burned and well done. I also have a habit of eating potatoes with sour cream and green onions. So, as eating the McRib, it only made me want to eat real ribs.
As this is available for a limited time, I think its worth the try and that many people will like it. The McRib Sauce is very good and almost similar to a BBQ sauce. Just the rib patty needed to be well done, burned, and crunchy.
I found the size of the sandwich to be a little on the small side. After finishing the meal, I felt like I had more room to eat, so I ended up eating bunch of desserts.
I also wanted to conclude that this sandwich is not available after midnight. So, if you plan on trying this you will need to get it during the day. Cool sandwich overall, just not my type of sandwich. Looks great and smells great, but it just made me crave real well done ribs.
2022 McRib Farewell Tour
McDonald’s has announced that this is the Farewell for the McRib. After eating it one more time this year I was just wondering: What are the crumbles on top of the bread? This year the sandwich tasted better than last year, however it just needed way more onions. Well, so long McRib! Have a Blast! and hopefully we may meet again down the road with an improved version.
