Dubai chocolate enters the world of ice cream and this time it is by Handcrafted Afters Ice Cream. I found them at Costco for a low price of just $17.99 which comes in a box of 10. This Afters Dubai Chocolate Bar Ice Cream is going to sell out quick which is why I purchased 2. Even though this is called Dubai Chocolate Bar, it feels more American than Dubai. For some reason the Dubai chocolate taste is not really much put into this ice cream.

As good as it tastes it’s as if it is lacking the Kataif part of the taste. The pistachio taste is very minimal and vanilla part is strong. I love the chocolate with the Kataifi coating.

Flavors 

First, let’s break down this ice cream into what it contains:

  • Kataifi Chocolate Coating
  • Pistachio flavor ice cream
  • Kataif chocolate chunks

Okay, now let’s get to the taste:

Shell

The chocolate shell is very crunchy but tastes like ordinary milk chocolate and not anything specific to Dubai chocolate. Sure, it has bunch of Kataifi around the shell that look like bunch of worms but they taste just like extra sugar. I think it needs way more of the Kataifi to deliver the Dubai style of taste.  The Chocolate shell has a tone of dark chocolate taste to it.

Ice Cream

The ice cream has a nice green color and when eating it tastes like vanilla and touch of pistachio. The pistachio part of flavor comes and goes in a very minimal tone. However, the vanilla stays strong and throughout the entire taste.

Kataif Chocolate Chunks

Inside the ice cream there are this chocolate chunks which are crunchy and feels as if you are biting into pistachio. However, it is Kataif chocolate chunks and not pistachio. Bunch of Kataif rolled together with chocolate that deliver nice crunch and extra chocolate taste to this ice cream bar.

Ingredients

I absolutely love the ice cream as far as taste and enjoyment goes. However, the ingredients kind of make me feel guilty eating it with artificial colors and ingredients. There are preservatives along with an essay of ingredients that kind of make me feel like it’s more laboratory made than handcrafted.

As this ice cream is limited edition and it sure is going to sell out quick, of course I recommend giving it a try.
