“For the moment all discipline seems painful rather than pleasant, but later it yields the peaceful fruit of righteousness to those who have been trained by it.” - Hebrews 12:11 ESV
This reminds me of my karate times when I was a kid. When I was 5 years old my parents took me to karate where I learned discipline. I wish I never quit karate, but when I go back and remember it was one of the best times I’ve ever had. Fighting was just my style and it made me focus more in life. I liked the class and exercising was one of the best things I learned to do. As a kid in karate, it didn’t feel like I was in karate, but something that just needed to be done. It felt like I was born to be there, and we just had a lot of fun.
Sam Tatevossian
Sam Tatevossian was my karate teacher and he was a master. I loved all the stunts he did, and I just wished I could do it like him too. I remember he gave me a photo of Chuck Norris with his autograph on it which I still have it today. Couple decades passed from my karate days, but I still am working out for health and fitness. Thanks to Sam’s class I was ready to continue my workouts from a young age. I reached to green belt and that is when I quit. After green belt it was brown, then black, but I stopped at green.
Until now I’m not sure why I stopped going, and yes of course I regret quitting. Sam’s class has been one of the best lifelong discipline lessons I’ve have learned and extremely happy with it. Every class almost felt like I was in the movie Bloodsport. You can find him on Instagram @samtatevossian
