I picked up this Munch’n Kiwi Berries from Costco for the price of $12.99 which come in a 1-pound container. They are fresh from New Zealand and are really rare fruits in California. Actually, this was the first time I’ve ever come across this fruit and it happened to be at Costco. At first, I thought they were tiny green tomatoes until I took another look, and it was Kiwi Berries. I had to give this a try and absolutely love it.
Extremely happy with this purchase and absolutely nutritious from every bites. Did I say every bites? Perhaps, every one bite as they are just bite size fruits. Kind of feels like you are eating popcorn one after another.
Costco Kiwi Berries
Some call it baby Kiwi or Hardy Kiwi but at Costco they are Kiwi Berries and they are by Munch’n. They are pretty small in size and just a tiny bit bigger than a blackberry. However, they look like watermelon when you look closely to the skin. It’s got that watermelon dark and light green colors on it with the same pattern. Perhaps, that is why they are juicy fruits.
The Taste
They taste exactly like the actual fruit Kiwi. From bite to bite you may get sour to sweetness, but the sour just dominates. I like the sour bites better as they taste newer and freshly picked from the tree. You can eat the skin too and the skin doesn’t have fuzzy texture to it. However, as much as it tastes exactly like the mother fruit Kiwi, it just doesn’t deliver the same exact amount of flavors. This is like miniature kiwi tasting fruits and you get tiny taste. Whereas eating the actual Kiwi you get stronger and bigger of the taste.
Overall, great new fruit to try and rare as I’ve never seen them before. Hopefully, I come by it again and sure will get it again. 🙂
Have you tried Pineberries from Costco?
