As I was at the bakery section at Sam’s Club there was this Member’s Mark Pumpkin Crumb Cake just grabbing my attention. It was as if I just couldn’t leave it alone, so I figures I’ll give it a try. I just couldn’t stop wondering what was going to be inside the cake. Was it going to be cheesy, creamy or nutty. So much going on in my mind that it was just no brainer to give it a try. The price is okay for the size which is $12.98 but at the same time kind of feels pricy.
Sam’s Club Member’s Mark Pumpkin Crumb Cake
If you are like me wondering what’s inside, wonder no more. It is moisty cake with crumbs on top. The cake is pumpkin mixture with vanilla but the pumpkin purely taking over the flavor. The top is like crunchy crumbles that taste like sugar cookies but are not cookies. On top of that there seems to be white powder along with other seasonings on top. As a whole, just pure real essence of pumpkin taste with sugar cookies and nothing else. Sometimes, low hint of cinnamon but at the lowest form.
Ingredients
The ingredients seem pretty poor to me as it has preservatives, and this entire cake is for 24 people. So just multiply the 250 calories per serving with 24 to get the exact calories. This said, I think I eat about 3 servings at a time as I just enjoy it with coffee or other drinks.
Texture
Even though the cake part is moisty the crumbles just take over the lead in taste. Because there are so much crumbles it makes the entire cake feel dry and makes you only want to get rid of the crumbles.
It’s Good
Even though the cake is good, I think it would be more complete if there was cheesy cream or vanilla cream inside the cake. The crumbles start getting annoying as they taste just like pure sugar cookies. I think walnuts or mixture of pecans would do it better than crunchy cookie tasting crumbles. On top of the mixture of nuts will balance the pumpkin flavor and bring it to more fall season rather than summer.
Overall, it’s good tasting cake just pretty dry and too much crumbles. Check out some pumpkin pies as Fall is just around the corner.
